Varicose Veins

Varicose veins are enlarged, twisted veins that typically appear blue or dark purple and bulge out from the surface of the skin, most commonly in the legs and feet. They occur when the valves in the veins weaken or become damaged, leading to poor blood circulation and the pooling of blood in the veins. This pooling causes the veins to become enlarged and distorted, resulting in the characteristic appearance of varicose veins.

Several factors can contribute to the development of varicose veins:

  1. Heredity

  2. Age

  3. Gender

  4. Pregnancy

  5. Obesity

  6. Prolonged standing or sitting

TREATMENT OPTIONS:

  1. Lifestyle modifications

  2. Compression

  3. Sclerotherapy

  4. Vein Stripping & Ligation, done by a Vascular Surgeon

  5. Laser therapy
